Hamamatsu Training Notes

Running: Hamamatsu runners split time between flat daily miles and proper trail work. The flat route runs 95 km with just +9 m, so it stays honest but not hard. The flat route runs 48 km with +74 m when legs need a little more bite. Smiley Angel has pushed trail running here since 2012, and the club points runners toward Lake Hamana, Mt. Cycling: Hamamatsu riders start with Lake Hamana Cycling Road because the lake gives base miles without much fuss. Locals ride the almost full circle, use the seven rental terminals, and bring bikes onto the Lake Hamana Sightseeing Cruise when the day calls for it. Bikemap lists 223 Hamamatsu cycling routes, and those routes cover 8,061 km, so nobody runs out of loops. Lake Hamana still works in summer because the coastal air helps, and Oku-Hamanako keeps the ride interesting with trees, rice fields, and short rises. Winter stays cool to mild with little snow around much of the area, but Enshū no Karakaze brings dry wind. Northern Hamamatsu can feel harsher and can see snow, so trail plans shift with the day.
