Japan

Suzuka’s 5.807 km circuit hosts Japan’s Formula One Grand Prix, an early-season championship race in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture. The race covers 53 laps, totaling just over 307 km, on a permanent circuit, with teams utilizing Pirelli’s three hardest tyre compounds. The event attracts a large crowd, with attendance recorded at 315,000. The weekend features fan-zone activities, food, merchandise, charity flag sales, and a pre-race ceremony where YOSHIKI performs the national anthem. Kimi Antonelli had a standout performance: he secured pole position, won for Mercedes, set the fastest lap, and took the lead in the Drivers’ Championship for the first time, becoming the youngest championship leader and the first Italian since Alberto Ascari’s time.

Spartan Race Mt. Fuji Susono Super 10K Sprint 5K & Kids Race

Spartan Race Mt. Fuji Susono takes place at YETI in Susono, Shizuoka, with Mount Fuji nearby. Spartan offers three main race options: the Sprint, the Super, and a Kids Race. The Sprint is the short adult race, covering 5K with 20 obstacles. The Super extends the format to 10K and includes more time on the trails. This event is held in the summer, with adult races starting in the morning. The Sprint serves as an introduction to Spartan racing, but it is also for experienced racers aiming to test speed, strength, and obstacle skills without the commitment of a longer course. A fast Sprint can be completed in approximately 40 minutes, though most participants will take longer navigating climbs, carries, walls, mud, and other course challenges. The Super is suited for racers who have completed a Sprint or are comfortable with a 10K distance. Finishing the Sprint contributes to Spartan’s three-race Trifecta challenge.

About cycling & running in Kawasaki

Kawasaki Training Notes

Running: Locals run Kawasaki like a dense urban base-mile town. The 13 km with +98 m route works when you want steady work. The 14 km with +77 m route feels right for longer Z2. The 10 km with +52 m route works when flat legs need a little bite. Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon and Tsukuba Marathon sit as clean anchor races, and the 2027 Tokyo Marathon Semper Fi & America's Fund Team is another target.

Cycling: Locals ride Kawasaki because the city gives options fast. Bikemap lists 701 cycle routes here, so base miles never feel hard to plan. The route runs 6 km with 196 m ascent for longer steady days. 大師サイクリングクラブ keeps the local side rooted in Kawasaki, while ヨコハマサイクリングクラブ and ヨコスカサイクリングクラブ keep touring legs honest. The west holds the climbs.

Season: May and June are the best months, and locals tend to get on the bike most then. Summer has no clean specifics in the brief, so locals keep the plan simple and use the same riverbanks, urban flats, and Z2 loops without pretending the data says more. Winter also has no clean specifics in the brief, so runners and riders shift by feel rather than by a named local rule. South and east Kawasaki stay flat, urban, and coastal, while the west keeps the hilly option open for intervals, hill reps, or a harder gran fondo block.
