Humlestafetten

Humlestafetten is a six-leg relay held in Bruksparken, Bromölla, starting and finishing within the park. It is designed for teams, not individuals, featuring an Open class and a Company class for the main relay, alongside a separate Mini-race for children. The core concept is a local team competition allowing both casual and experienced runners to participate together on a straightforward, non-technical course. The course is flat and easy, utilizing both gravel and asphalt paths within Bruksparken. The children’s Mini-race covers 650 meters, begins in the park after a group warm-up, and concludes with each child receiving a medal and diploma. This year also marks the event's 20th anniversary, highlighted by a team raffle for a hot air balloon ride for two, contributing to the day's atmosphere as a local festival rather than just a race.

Kristianstad Trail

Kristianstad Trail is an autumn trail race held in the Bockeboda forest area near Kristianstad in southern Sweden, organized by Hårlövs IF. Participants can select from multiple distances: the longer options are approximately 25 km and 12 km, while the shortest race has been extended from 5 km to 6 km. The courses traverse forest terrain that the organizer characterizes as challenging and enjoyable. Minor route adjustments may occur due to forestry operations impacting the paths. Conditions can be wintry, so participants are advised to wear shoes with adequate grip when snow is present. The race is affiliated with Trailcred, permits race-day distance changes for a fee, prohibits dogs, and typically features local photographers from Fjälkinge Fotoklubb documenting the event.

Trail Genom Skåne

Trail Genom Skåne is a trail running series held at The Treehouse in Hovdala-Hässleholm, located in the forested region of Skåne in southern Sweden. Participants can select from 10 km, 25 km, or 50 km distances, accommodating both those seeking a shorter forest run and individuals aiming for a longer day on the trails. The TGS 50 is a 50 km loop starting and ending at The Treehouse. It encircles Finjasjön and crosses paths within the Göinge and Hovdala nature reserves. The 25 km and 10 km races also conclude at The Treehouse. The 10 km route largely follows the final 10 km of the 50 km course, offering shorter-distance runners a segment of the same finish.

About cycling & running in Kristianstad

Kristianstad Training Notes

Running: Locals run Kristianstad from Tivoliparken, Helge å, Hammarsjön, and the easy paths around the city centre. VarjeSteg meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 at På Tivolibadsgatans parkering, Tivolibadsgatan 2, for 60-75 minute sessions. The Helge å loop is 14 km and gains 70 m. The Helge å loop is 9 km and gains 20 m. The Hammarsjön loop is 83 km and gains 10 m. Blodomloppet Kristianstad and Kristianstad Trail are the anchor races.

Cycling: Locals ride Kristianstad like a flatlands base-mile town, with Helge å, Hammarsjön, Immeln, and the open Scania landscape setting the rhythm. Balsberget and Fjälkinge backe hold the climbs, so riders go north when Z2 needs teeth or intervals need a proper ramp. The city centre works for easy roll-outs, and Tivoliparken keeps the start simple. The brief names no cycling club, crit, gran fondo, or cyclocross anchor event, so the honest local race list stays with Blodomloppet Kristianstad, Kristianstad Trail, Humlestafetten, Immeln Swimrun 2026, and Killebomloppet. Locals still get plenty of steady riding from the flat mix.

Season: Summer gives Kristianstad the best training feel, because the warm season is comparatively long by Swedish standards. Locals use that stretch for Runt sjön days, easy laps through Tivoliparken, steady rides toward Immeln, and hill work north at Balsberget or Fjälkinge backe. Winter changes the job, because chilly months make consistency more important than big numbers. Runners keep the rhythm with shorter routes like Söndags rundan or Rugges runda, and cyclists lean into base miles, careful Z2, and sharper sessions when the roads and legs allow it.
