Tartufo Running Trail is an October trail and skyrunning race in the Parma Apennines, located in Italy’s Food Valley. It offers runners four distance options: a 9 km route with 450 m of elevation gain, a 17 km route with 1,110 m, a 28 km route with 1,677 m, and a 50 km ultra with 3,042 m. The longer courses award ITRA points, and the event attracts serious skyrunners via the Italian Sky Ultra championship and the CRAZY Skyrunning Italy Cup final.
The routes traverse the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve, utilizing old tracks, mountain paths, and segments of the Via degli Scalpellini and Via Francigena. Runners will pass Monte Sporno, Montagnana, the rocky Salti del Diavolo pinnacles, autumn woods, meadows, and semi-wild fields. The event retains a local feel: Skyrunning Adventure A.S.D. organizes it with Pro Loco Calestano, youth and children’s races are held alongside the main events, gear checks and a briefing precede the start, the finish is at Baita Alpini, and a traditional meal concludes the day. The name is fitting for the area, with Fragno truffle, Parma ham, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and hill-country wine closely associated with the race's setting.
