MEDIEVAL TRAIL 2026

The Medieval Trail Race is a Romanian trail running event held in Șiria, within the Zarand Mountains. Its core concept is to connect two old fortresses on foot. Participants can select from approximately 44.5 km, 22.5 km, and 9.5 km routes, offering a spectrum from a brief mountain run to a demanding, ascent-focused trail challenge. The event takes place in April, with the motto “Conquer the fortresses.” The course links Șoimoș Fortress and Șiria Fortress, providing the race with a distinct character compared to a typical circuit in the hills. The 44.5 km course involves around 2,075 m of climbing and 1,763 m of descent. The 22.5 km route features just over 1,000 m of both climbing and descending. Even the 9.5 km option includes elevation changes, with approximately 445 m of ascent and 446 m of descent. This shorter race is also part of the Heritage ITRA National League.
