The Tour: Dr Ron Hyde 7
The Dr Ron Hyde 7 is the final 7-mile race in the four-race Tour of Tameside, starting and finishing outside Hyde Town Hall. It concludes the Tour in Hyde, with a route that combines uphill sections and flatter paths, offering a manageable challenge for newer runners while still testing experienced ones. Participants in the wider Tour can opt for a single race, multiple races, or the complete series, which also features a 10K trail race at Park Bridge and Daisy Nook Country Park, a 6-mile fell race in Stalybridge, and a half marathon on the Longdendale Trail.
The Hyde race is held in memory of Dr Ron Hill, a local running figure instrumental to the Tour’s identity. The street race attracts runners from diverse backgrounds, and a kids' mile enhances the family atmosphere beyond a standard adult road race. A virtual option allows participants to run or walk the 7 miles and submit proof online for a bespoke medal. This medal is part of a four-medal Tour set, and a portion of each virtual entry fee supports the Running Bee Foundation.
