RUNTIMING // 2. Celler Holzwerk-Staffelmarathon 2026

The Celler Holzwerk-Staffelmarathon is a four-person relay marathon held at the Saarfeld sports facility in Otto-Schade-Stadion, Celle, Lower Saxony. Instead of a single runner completing 42.195 kilometers, each team divides 32 short laps over a roughly 1.3 km out-and-back course. The race route includes tartan, grass, and paved sections, prohibiting the use of spikes. The Triathlon department of SV Altencelle e.V. is the organizer, with a team limit of approximately 70. Each team uses a relay baton containing a timing transponder, electronically recording every lap, split, and total time. Live intermediate results are available online, fitting the frequent lap changes: teammates and spectators can track shifts in the race every few minutes. Teams compete in men's, women's, and mixed categories, the latter comprising two men and two women. The event is registered with the German Athletics Association. The setup is practical for a club relay day, offering on-site parking, medical support, showers, changing rooms, toilets, and is held regardless of weather conditions.
