Sobre esta prova
MightyMan Montauk is a triathlon festival held in Montauk, New York, located at the eastern tip of Long Island. It takes place when the weather is often mild and the summer crowds have diminished. The event features both Olympic and Sprint distance races on the same day, along with an AquaBike option for participants who prefer to swim and bike only. The original Mighty Montauk race began in 1982, founded by Robert J. Aaron. USAT recognizes it as the oldest USAT season opener on Long Island’s East End.
The Olympic-style Mighty Montauk course includes a 1-mile swim, a 20-mile bike ride, and a 6.2-mile run. The Sprint race consists of a 750-meter swim, a 17K bike ride, and a 5K run. The swim takes place in Fort Pond, an out-and-back in freshwater typically in the mid-to-upper 60s Fahrenheit, making wetsuits recommended but not mandatory. The bike course is a single loop through Montauk, and the run course combines rolling terrain with flatter sections. Montauk, a town known for fishing and surfing with a history in triathlon, provides the setting for this event, attracting athletes seeking a longer East End race outside of the busiest summer period.
