Spooky Sprint Des Moines

Spooky Sprint Des Moines is an annual Halloween-themed race day at Big Creek State Park near Des Moines, with distances for almost every level: half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1 mile, and a kid's dash. It is built as a family event, not just a runner's race, with youth pricing for ages 12 and under in the 5K and 10K and a short untimed dash for children 10 and under. The longer races use chip timing with live results, while the 1 mile and kid's dash keep things casual and untimed. Most entries include a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal, and the kid's dash has its own mini bib, youth shirt, and kid-sized medal. Children can also run the kid's dash for free if they skip the swag. Runners who cannot get to Big Creek State Park can choose a virtual option and still earn the race gear.
