Josh Lee Memorial 5K Run

The Josh Lee Memorial 5K Run is a fall 5K held on the USC Upstate campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with the race address at 300 Hodge Drive. The run honors Josh Lee, a former USC Upstate cross-country runner known for his positive attitude and athletic talent. Proceeds benefit the Josh Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by his parents, Johnny and Laurie Lee, to aid USC Upstate Cross Country and Track & Field athletes. Packet pickup is available Friday afternoon before the race at the Hodge Building on campus. The course remains on campus, making it a community and school event rather than a destination road race. Over 250 participants typically attend, with a past record of 490 participants and 293 finishers, raising over $120,000 for the scholarship. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall, and to age groups from 10 and under up to 75 and over. The scholarship supports two student-athletes annually, considering their academic, athletic, and community involvement. Josh’s motto, “Just finish the race,” is central to the event’s mission of supporting Spartan athletes in their education and sports.
