The CMM sends runners from Chapelle des Bois to Métabief on a 40 km trail route in the Haut-Doubs, as part of the Ultra Trail des Montagnes du Jura program. It is a mid-distance mountain race: 1100 m of climbing, four aid stations, an eight-hour cutoff, and a field capped at 2000 runners. The race is run in early October, with an Elite start wave followed by waves assigned from each runner’s ITRA rating at registration.
The route heads through Jura mountain terrain and goes up to Mont d’Or, but the exact GPX track is released only shortly before race day because parts of the course cross private land. Aid stations are practical and local, with drinks such as Jura Cola and broth alongside fruit, bread, gingerbread, saucisson, Comté, and Morbier. Runners must carry water, a survival blanket, a charged phone, and their own cup; poles are allowed, though the organizers do not recommend them for the 40 km. A paid shuttle can take runners from Les Hôpitaux Vieux to the start, while free return shuttles run from the Métabief finish back to the shuttle parking area.
