BGY Airport Granfondo
The BGY Airport Granfondo is a May road-cycling event held in Bergamo, northern Italy. The start and finish are located on Via Marzabotto, near the city stadium and the Lazzaretto. This is an international amateur event, attracting thousands of participants from Italy and other countries. The Lazzaretto also hosts packet pickup and the Expo Village during the race weekend, prior to the riders assembling on the start grids.
Riders can select from three route distances: 91 km, 130 km, or 148 km, allowing for either a shorter granfondo or a longer ride through Bergamo and its surrounding province. Route details highlight nine fountains along the way and offer advice on climbing gears, indicating that preparation is key for this ride. Now in its 28th edition, the event has seen 98,041 starters throughout its history. It also features elements beyond the course, such as a Green event designation, a charity entry option, a distinct jersey, records of past winners, and the Eugenio Mercorio Memorial.
