Dereham sprint triathlon - X-TRON 2027

East Dereham Sprint Tri is an X-TRON sprint triathlon held in Dereham. It features a traditional early morning start and a practical, club-race atmosphere. The swim begins indoors at the leisure centre. Athletes line up in number order, receive a 30-second countdown, and duck under pool ropes before proceeding outside to T1. The bike leg follows an out-and-back route on the A47. It is mostly flat, clearly signed, and offers a smooth surface, making it fast without being overly intimidating. Tri-Anglians participated in the race. The event captures the essence of a sprint triathlon: waiting in the cold before the swim, navigating rough tarmac in transition with bare feet, dealing with shoe issues in T2, and finishing with a run that requires persistence after the bike.
