Adventure Skyrun

Adventure Skyrun is a mountain running series in Bulgaria, centered in the Rila area around Borovets and Malyovitsa, held in late August. Participants can select from three distances: Adventure Sky Forest at 12 km, Adventure Sky Lakes at 25 km, and Adventure Sky Run at 55 km. The shortest race involves a 415-meter climb, ensuring even the entry distance is a genuine mountain run, not a flat trail race. The series is organized by Adventure Skyrun and is listed with ITRA. The longest event awards 8 ITRA points, Mountain Level 8, and a Finisher Level of 210. The participant lists are predominantly Bulgarian, featuring runners from clubs like Blagoevgrad Running Club and Crazy Rush, as well as independent entrants. The race website maintains results from multiple past editions, providing the event with a documented history beyond its current participant roster.

Bansko Bike Fest

In Bansko, Bulgaria, riders can spend the same festival weekend on mountain enduro trails, road turns, a 1,000-meter climbing rally, and relaxed guided rides that end at a table of local food. Bansko Bike Fest is an annual July cycling festival rather than a single race, with options for experienced cyclists, families, children, and people who mainly want to test bikes, train with stronger riders, or explore the mountain town by bicycle. The harder side of the program includes an iconic climb near Bansko and road tours supported by a police escort, while the social side includes Tasty Bansko, the Avramovo gourmet ride, an expo zone, unlimited bike tests, and kids' games and training on the city park pump track. One edition sent more than 70 riders on a 70 km route with 1,200 meters of climbing to Orteso, the highest inhabited village in the Balkans at 1,555 meters, while more than 80 others rode the mountain trails above Bansko; the field has stretched from local cycling figures to a 77-year-old participant.

Wolf Backyard Ultra Bulgaria

Vladaya village and the northwestern slopes of Vitosha Mountain host this ultimate test of endurance, now in its second year. This is not a race against the clock, but a format designed to find "the most resilient runner" by pushing participants past their physical and mental breaking points. The 6.7 km trail loop above the village features elevation gain that "starts to weigh imperceptibly, then no longer asks". Runners at the start know that rest between loops is part of the race, but also part of the trap. The core rule is simple: there is no second place, only runners who keep going, embodying the spirit that "physical limits are meant to be broken" until a victory is claimed by the last one standing.

バンスコ山岳トレーニング拠点

ランニング： 地元の人たちは、本格的な山脚を鍛えたいとき、ピリン国立公園に直行するんだ。ヴィフレン小屋、スホドルスコト・エゼロ、ドム・ヤヴォロフ、シナニツァ小屋、ベゴヴィツァ小屋、ククリテ、レフジオ・ピリン、テヴノ・エゼロ小屋、ベズボグ小屋を巡るループコースは、ロングランにぴったりだよ。このループは105 milesで34,925 feetも登るから、Z2のイージーランだなんて誰も思わないね。バンスコには特に決まったランニングクラブはないから、みんなで声をかけ合ってゆるく走ってる感じだよ。Adventure Skyrun、Salomon Vitosha Trail、Wolf Backyard Ultra Bulgariaなんかは、ランナーにとって目標になるレースだね。

サイクリング： 地元の人たちは、バンスコをこの地域のMTBの拠点って呼んでるよ。良いコースはピリン山にあるんだ。バンスコとラズログはリラ山脈、ピリン山脈、ロドピ山脈に囲まれてるから、すぐに登り坂が始まるんだよね。Dobrinishte Family Trailは17 kmで251 metresアップだから、ベース走にはちょうどいい感じ。Golf Course routeは20 kmで401 metresアップ、Dead Dogは16 kmで706 metresアップ、Road to Nowhereは28 kmで1037 metresアップだよ。バンスコにはちゃんとしたサイクリングクラブはないから、みんなコースを囲んで集まってるよ。Bansko Bike Fest、L'Etape Bulgaria、Гравел турなんかがカレンダーに載ってるね。

シーズン： 7月と8月は、ランナーもサイクリストも一番気持ちよく動ける時期だよ。夏のピリン山はMTBに最高で、6月から9月下旬まで乗れる期間が続くんだ。夏の間、地元の人たちはピリン国立公園の保護区内でシングルトラックやエンデューロの周回、ロングZ2、それから小屋から小屋へのロングランを楽しんでるね。ゴンドラは08:30から17:00まで動いてるから、MTBの日はリフトで楽に上がれるんだ。冬になると、町全体が雪景色に変わるよ。バンスコはFISワールドカップのアルペンスキーレースを開催したこともあるし、冬はアルペン競技やバイアスロンの大会で山全体が盛り上がるんだ。
