The Main Street Mile 2026

The Main Street Mile is a one-mile race down Main Street in Westminster, Maryland, held each spring evening. It begins at 410 East Main Street and concludes near the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library, adjacent to the Westminster Family Center. This event has been an annual tradition since at least 1981, maintaining a straightforward format: one mile, two heats, and a finish-line arrangement focused on local runners and families. The first heat is the competitive race, featuring chip timing, scoring, cash prizes, place medals, masters awards, and age-group awards for participants age 11 and older capable of running a 10-minute mile or faster. The second heat is the untimed Connor B. Smith Memorial Fun Run, intended for children age 10 and under, as well as any participants preferring a slower pace. All finishers receive a WRRC medal and an ice cream sandwich near the finish line, reflecting the race's dual nature: suitable for dedicated mile runners and accommodating for children and casual joggers.
