Fredrikstadmarka Rundt

Fredrikstadmarka Rundt is a forest running event in Fredrikstad, Norway, featuring a main 20 km race, a 10 km option named Markatier'n, and a 500 m children's race. It takes place in October, organized by Fredrikstad IF. The 20 km loop, run since 1974, is considered one of Norway's classic forest races, largely because the route has remained consistent for decades. The main course offers a balance for forest races: runners encounter proper trail sections alongside sufficient gravel road to maintain speed. Recent fields have been competitive yet locally focused, with hundreds completing the 20 km and fewer participating in the 10 km. The race records indicate the loop's potential speed, with Mats Haldin's 1:07:08 for men and Jorunn Rekkedal's 1:16:17 for women. Markatier'n was introduced later, providing a shorter adult distance to complement the established 20 km classic and the children's race.
