About this race
The Algarve Xtreme Trail, typically held in early June, takes place in Querença, a village near Loulé in Portugal's Faro District. Participants can choose from four options: a 10 km walk, and trail runs of 20 km, 31 km, and 47 km, crossing the hills, woods, and mountain terrain of the Algarve.
Each distance is a single loop, offering a point-to-point experience without repeating sections. The 20 km, 31 km, and 47 km races award 1, 2, and 3 ITRA points, respectively, benefiting trail runners seeking challenging mountain events. The 10 km walk accommodates those preferring a less strenuous outdoor activity, while the longer routes are suited for runners seeking more demanding trails. The location also facilitates combining the race with a short Algarve visit, with Loulé, Faro, Ria Formosa, and the Monchique mountains nearby.
