Kvinnheradløpet 2026

Kvinnheradløpet is a 6 km race around Rosendal, a village in Sunnhordaland with just over 700 residents. It takes place on the first Sunday in October, starting and finishing at Rosendal stadium. The event offers separate hiking and running categories. Hikers can begin within a two-hour morning window, while runners start at noon. Established in 1982, it has been held nearly every year since, interrupted only by the pandemic and a stadium renovation pause for the running category. The course ascends from the stadium, crosses the local high point known as “Rosendal’s roof,” descends toward the barony, and then gently rises towards the Barony of Rosendal. After leaving the paved road, participants follow a gravel path to county road 48, cross it, and return via a side road before a final 200-meter sprint on the gravel track. Approximately 650 individuals have completed either the hike or the run, a notable participation figure for a village of this size. Participants receive badges for each finish and for reaching round-number milestones. Prizes include local gift cards for hiking category draws and for the fastest runners.
