About this race
The Etna Marathon MTB begins in Milo, eastern Sicily, leading participants up Mount Etna, Europe's tallest active volcano. This off-road marathon offers three routes: a 63.5 km Marathon with 2,100 meters of elevation gain, a 45 km Gran Fondo with 1,550 meters of climbing, and an E-Bike category following the 45 km course. The event is limited to 1,000 participants.
The course itself is the defining element: volcanic terrain, extended ascents, and significant altitude gain present a challenge even before the distance is factored in. As part of the UCI MTB Marathon Series, the event attracts competitive marathon riders alongside amateurs participating in the Gran Fondo or E-Bike categories. ASD Mongibello MTB Team is the organizer, with registration available online and in Milo prior to the race weekend.
