mz3athlon

The mz3athlon begins at the diving tower of the Mineralfreibad Wellarium in Steinheim an der Murr, Baden-Wurttemberg. This May sprint triathlon, organized by Team Silla Hopp, offers an individual race and a relay race covering the same distances: 550 meters swimming, 20 km cycling, and a 5.1 km run. The individual competition is expected to host around 400 athletes, with an additional 40 participating in the relay. A student race is also featured, with significantly shorter distances: 50 meters swimming, 3 km cycling, and 500 meters running. The swim segment employs a chase start, releasing swimmers into the water every 15 seconds. Participants can either dive from the tower or start in the pool. The cycling leg consists of two approximately 10 km laps through Steinheim, Hopfigheim, and Kleinbottwar, each featuring 170 meters of elevation gain and numerous narrow, field-width paths. The organizer characterizes the ride as "angular: up, down, and up again," suggesting time trial bikes are unsuitable. Drafting is prohibited, and the bike course will be closed to traffic from early morning. The event also engages school-age participants via the DTU Triathlon-Schultour.
