The 54th International Wolfgangseelauf on October 18, 2026, is Austria's largest landscape and experience run with over 4,000 participants, offering plenty of running enjoyment. On this date, there are four main events for everyone to choose their optimal distance (5.2 / 10 / 27 / 42.195 km). The natural course, largely running directly along the lake, offers everything that experience, enjoyment, and performance runners appreciate. The 5.2 km panorama run (starting in Strobl) is a perfect introductory event. The flat 10 km lakeside run between Gschwendt and St. Wolfgang is also on the program. Travel to both these runs is by boat (included in the entry fee). The classic at Wolfgangsee remains the 27 km lake circuit, which will be run for the 53rd time. With the passage over the Falkenstein (220 meters of altitude) and countless unique scenic sections, such as in Fürberg and Abersee, the Wolfgangseelauf has become a legend from its beginnings as a secret tip. Since 2011, the running offer has been rounded off with the Salzkammergut Marathon over the classic 42.195 km distance. After starting in the imperial city of Bad Ischl and a good 15 km "approach", the original 27 km classic route around Wolfgangsee follows. Participants unanimously describe the first two editions (each on beautifully sunny autumn days) as "42.195 challenging kilometers – a landscape and enjoyment marathon of the highest class with huge potential." On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the sporting "overture" begins with two events. The "5. Walk the Lake" at 9:00 AM is entirely for the general public, starting and finishing at the "Brunnwind" pub in St. Gilgen, inviting both walkers and Nordic walkers. Due to very good feedback last year, four distances are available this year: 8.5 km (St. Gilgen – St. Wolfgang municipal office); 14 km (St. Gilgen – TVB Strobl); 18.5 km (St. Gilgen – Gschwendt ferry terminal); 27 km (St. Gilgen – St. Gilgen). In the afternoon, the youth born in 2011 and younger (200–1,200 m depending on age group) will compete in the 16th Junior Marathon along the picturesque lake promenade in Strobl. Finally, in the evening from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, "Griaß Eich" will take place in the Pacher-Haus St. Wolfgang with live music, awards, information, and a large photo show, including a pasta party.
