The Ottawa Tuesday Night Crit - Weekly Series is a local criterium series in Ottawa, Ontario, with racing on Tuesday evenings from early May through late August. It runs weekly in the evening, with registration options for both U18 and 18+ riders, serving as a regular midweek race night rather than a one-off event. The format is built around practice as much as pure results: riders can work on pack skills, cornering, speed changes, and race positioning in a friendly setting. A useful detail for newer or developing racers is that dropped riders get a chance to rejoin the group, making the series less punishing than a standard crit where losing contact usually ends the race.
The Manotick Backyard Ultra begins at 692 Coffee and Bar in Manotick, Ontario, with the ultra starting at 7:00 AM. As a Backyard Ultra, the objective is not a swift finish but outlasting all other competitors; the event page states plainly: there is no second place and no conventional finish line. The course winds through Manotick, incorporating road and trail sections, bridges over streams, park areas, and paved stretches. The weekend also features a timed 5K and a non-chip-timed Family 1K. Half of the Family 1K registration fee supports CHEO Children's Hospital via the Griffin Bell Golden Endowment Fund. This is the series' second edition, and the ultra has already sold out, with 108 participants registered.
