Gebhardshagen hosts the GlückLauf, a local running event organized by Glück Gebhardshagen with the slogan “IT’S TIME TO RUN.” Around 400 runners participated when the event set a record, with hobby runners, competitive athletes, children, and local club runners sharing the same race day. The program ranges from a 1.2 km children’s race to a trail half marathon, serving as both a family event and a test for experienced runners.
The youngest runners use a 1.2 km course; one edition saw 137 boys and girls start, including U8 children whose parents sometimes ran alongside. The trail half marathon covers just over 21 km with nearly 400 meters of climbing. Runners prepared for sun with caps, scarves, hydration packs, and organizer drink stations. A 10.8 km race featured a notable local story when 64-year-old Dr. Martin Steinbach outran mostly younger competitors, finishing to applause.
