Bikkelrun Leeuwarden 2026

Bikkelrun Leeuwarden is a survival run held in October in Leeuwarden. It focuses on running, obstacles, and various distance options, distinguishing itself from a standard road race. The primary event is the NK LSR, the Dutch national long-distance survival run championship. Shorter routes, like the 6 km option, are available for runners with less experience. The event relies on a large volunteer base, with over 350 individuals assisting in areas such as obstacle construction, course management, traffic control, aid stations, and obstacle judging. The course incorporates Leeuwarden itself into the challenge. Previous editions have begun and concluded at Wilhelminaplein, locally known as Zaailand, in the city center. Participants have navigated through the city center towards the Prinsentuin and the northern part of the city. Shorter-course participants turn near the Ee bridge, while longer-course runners proceed towards Leeuwarderbos before looping back via Rengerspark. The race has a significant local history, having already celebrated its 25th edition, and has also served as the venue for the Open Dutch Championship Middle Distance Survivalrun.
