La Trace Des Capitelles

La Trace des Capitelles is an October trail event held in Villegailhenc, a village in Aude, southern Occitanie. Participants can select between 10 km and 20 km nature routes. Walkers have an 11 km hike that begins 30 minutes prior to the races. The shorter trail ascends 280 metres, while the 20 km route gains 390 metres in elevation. This is a proper trail run, not a road race with trail shoes. The routes traverse vineyards and garrigue, the dry Mediterranean scrubland of the Cabardès region. The event's name originates from the capitelles, small dry-stone shelters dotting the course, thus connecting local paths with rural heritage. It is suitable for runners seeking a moderate trail challenge, walkers who prefer the same countryside at a relaxed pace, and individuals using the 20 km option for an extended exploration of the hills and stone-built landscape.
