The Styrkeprøven Trondheim-Oslo is the world's longest and oldest touring race, considered cycling's greatest classic. The race is a battle against oneself and the elements, offering a life-changing experience. It has been held annually since 1967, with 2018 marking its 53rd edition. The race covers a distance of 540 km with 3627 meters of elevation gain. The start is in Trondheim, outside the Tinghuset in Munkegata, in the city center. The route passes through Hjerkinn and down Gudbrandsdalen towards Oslo, with 9 aid stations providing food, drinks, technical assistance for bikes, and medical help for riders. Additionally, hundreds of volunteers act as traffic guards and mechanics/medical personnel in support vehicles. The Rye 15 team aims to complete the race in 15 hours, with a race plan designed for this goal. The team utilizes personalized aid stations where riders have 2.5 minutes at each of the four 'kassestopp' (box stops) and 1 minute at a 'flaskestopp' (bottle stop) to refuel and make necessary adjustments. The total time allocated for these stops is 11 minutes over the 540 km journey.
