La Foulée Suresnoise is a two-day running weekend in Suresnes, just west of Paris, with the half marathon and 10 km on Sunday and the 5 km plus children’s races on Saturday. The main race is 21.1 km, and the event also gives younger runners 3 km, 1.5 km, and 750 m options, so it works as a local family outing as much as a road-racing fixture. The race is already in its 52nd edition, which gives it a long history in the streets of Suresnes.
The course runs through Suresnes and passes Mont Valérien, one of the area’s most recognizable landmarks. The children’s races are held on Boulevard Washington, starting and finishing at the Terrasse du Fécheray. Four brass bands play along the route, and the start village includes a medical area for runners before and after the race. The organizers also cut down on plastic at aid stations by using recycled cardboard cups, fruit and dried fruit, and large water containers instead of plastic bottles; race pacers use electric-assist bicycles.
