3 Country Marathon

The 3 Country Marathon is a point-to-point road marathon around Lake Constance. It begins in Lindau, Germany, and concludes in a stadium in Bregenz, Austria. The race covers the full 42.195 km, mostly on paved roads and paths. It is unusually flat, with elevations ranging from 398 to 415 meters above sea level, resulting in a total height difference of just 17 meters. Approximately 60% of the course runs alongside the lake, offering views of the Alps across the water. The route departs Lindau, crossing into Austria and passing the floating stage of the Bregenz Festival. It then enters Switzerland, where participants are greeted with "Gruezi" and pass through St. Margrethen, with spectators lining the village center. From St. Margrethen, the course follows the Rhine River back toward Austria, passing the Mehrerau monastery before finishing inside the Bregenz stadium. The race is measured to AIMS standards, is open to runners aged 18 and over, and separates rankings for men and women across youth, junior, main, and senior categories, including additional standings for the Vorarlberg Championships.
